iPhone 17 price in Moldova: +12% in October, and where it's cheapest

In October the iPhone 17 got more expensive in Moldovan stores, and by more than you would expect for a model launched over a year ago. We went through prices in every store in the catalog to see where you overpay the most and where you barely overpay at all.

How much does the iPhone 17 cost in Moldova now?

Here are prices on 01.11.2026 from the stores in the PriceList.md catalog (in stock only):

Honestly, the spread surprised us too. The same base iPhone 17 256 GB costs anywhere from 18,129 to 23,699 lei, a 5,570 lei gap, which is the price of a decent Android phone. On the 512 GB Black the gap is 5,100 lei, but only three stores still have it. Cactus, Smart and Fantastic most often have the lowest prices across the line-up.

In October it was mainly the base model that got pricier

We compared prices of the same offers on 1 and 31 October:

The pattern is interesting: it is mainly the base model that is going up. The median for the iPhone 17 256 GB rose 12.6%, the 512 GB 9.9%, the iPhone Air 6.4%. Pro prices are almost flat. Across the whole iPhone 17 range, of the 197 offers present on both 1 and 31 October, 133 went up and 28 came down; the median change was +1.8%.

Why? A likely explanation lies with Apple. On 9 September 2026 the company raised US prices of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 17e by $100 each, on the same day it unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The base iPhone 17 went from $799 to $899. Stores in Moldova adjust prices with a delay, and the October rise looks like that wave arriving. Last generation's Pro models, on the other hand, now compete with the new iPhone 18 Pro, so their prices are not rising.

Is the iPhone 17 more expensive in Moldova than in the US?

The NBM rate on 30.10.2026 was 18.0365 lei per dollar. Keep in mind that US prices are shown before sales tax, while Moldovan prices include 20% VAT. With that in mind, the cheapest iPhone 17 in Moldova is only about 12% above the pre-tax US price, the iPhone Air at its lowest costs almost the same as in the US, and on the iPhone 17 512 GB the gap is about 16%. Buying an iPhone "from abroad" to save money makes little sense right now: shipping, warranty and the risk of a fake eat up the difference.

Where the iPhone 17 is cheapest

• iPhone 17 256 GB: cheapest at Fantastic (white, 18,129 lei) and Cactus (black, 18,699 lei; Blue Mist, Sage, Lavender at 18,799 lei).
• iPhone 17 512 GB: at Cactus, 22,999 lei.
• iPhone Air 256 GB: at Smart, 19,999 lei.
• iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: at Cactus, 23,999 and 26,499 lei.

Colour matters: in the same store, a white and a black iPhone 17 can differ by hundreds of lei. If colour is not important to you, compare every option.

Is it worth waiting for Black Friday to buy an iPhone 17?

We cannot promise a discount: apart from Ultra, stores in Moldova have not yet announced their Black Friday 2026 terms. But the data shows two things. First, the lowest price of the iPhone 17 256 GB Black rose in October from 17,999 to 18,699 lei, and in summer it was 17,499 lei. If in November you see a "discount" to 18,699 lei, it is not a discount, just today's lowest price. iPhone 17 or iPhone 16: which is better value?

The iPhone 16 128 GB now costs from 15,899 lei, but it has gone up too: in summer its lowest price was 13,799 lei. Pro and Pro Max: price cuts in the second half of October

While the base model was getting pricier, several stores cut prices on the top versions. The table lists only cuts that held until the end of October:

The biggest cut was 6,000 lei at Atehno on the Pro Max 512 GB Silver. At Cactus the 1,050 lei cut applied to every colour of the Pro Max 512 GB. A price has to hold for several days before and after the cut, otherwise we do not call it a discount.

1. Warranty. Ask who provides it and where servicing is done.
2. Version and configuration. Check storage and colour: 256 GB and 512 GB differ by 4,300–5,070 lei.
3. Availability. Our comparison counts only products "in stock".
4. Receipt. Keep the fiscal receipt and the warranty card.
5. Price history. Before paying, open the product page in the catalog, where the price history is shown.

Prices are taken from the PriceList.md catalog on 01.11.2026 (the October comparison uses 1 and 31 October): 17 stores, in-stock offers only, one lowest price per store. Suspiciously cheap offers that looked like errors were left out.
